Boeing Field in Seattle,
I "earned" an Air Combat Phase I day through a charity auction with the Seattle Choral Company here in Seattle, WA. Since it was for a good cause I was able to justify spending the extra money on something which just seemed so downright cool. Luckily for me, some bad weather last week created a newly scheduled day for Monday the 27th. I had the distinct pleasure of flying with Screech and Boot (I'm sure they have "real" names -- but there you are). Despite the heckling Screech got from his fellow pilots -- our briefing was wonderful. Many years ago I majored in physics in college -- and it was nice to see some of what I knew theoretically applied on a whiteboard. Moreover, it helped me understand that inverting the air plane didn't mean I was going to kill myself. That's always a good thing to know. Flyin' with Screech in the Extra was great fun -- I spent most of the time, and day, in a daze having a hard time believing that what I was doing and seeing was... well, me doing and seeing it. Two days later I'm finally able to say, "Wow! That was fantastic!". I can't begin to say enough about how friendly and outgoing everyone I ran into was (including the folks on the phone in Fullerton). Your organization has a superb degree of customer service -- one that has helped create a new, loyal fan. And if that wasn't enough -- I had a great time, and knew that I was safe in the hands of Screech. Please pass on my thanks to Screech and Boot. I hope I'm lucky enough to see them next year when, for certain, I'll be doing this again.
